Drink water as soon as you wake up. Drinking water in the morning will help your stomach and organs get the oxygen they need in order to function properly.

Dress up at least once a week. Take a long warm shower, wear earrings, put on make up, and apply lotion. We know that sometimes life throws situations at us that make us feel bummed out (been there!), but there is a certain power in feeling clean and making an effort to look and feel beautiful. This is why you should take small steps to get out of your comfort zone.

Wake up early. I know this is something that takes practice and changing life patterns, but waking up early and getting things done before the kids are up and the world is up and running makes you feel accomplished.

Move your body for at least 30 minutes everyday. I work in an office, I know that it’s hard to fit in exercise. Start with 5 minutes, then move unto 15 minutes and so on. Purchase for yourself a watch that tells you how many steps you’ve taken to help you keep track.

Volunteer in your community. Offer up to help at church, volunteer to buy groceries for an elderly neighbor or help a young mother by offering to baby sit or help out with chores.

All of these things can count for self care and mental help, but I know it is easier said than done! You can start today by picking one or two items from this list and making it a goal to move forward towards a healthier you.
